Policy
ACCIDENT INSURANCE
Purpose
The Northfield Board of Education recognizes the need for insurance coverage for unforeseen accidents which may occur in the course of attendance at school or student participation in the athletic and extracurricular programs of the schools.
Authority
The board will provide parents the opportunity to purchase insurance coverage, at no cost to the board, for injury resulting from accidents sustained by students in school, on school grounds, at an activity sponsored by the school or in the intramural program.
Delegation of Authority
The Superintendent of Schools shall recommend suitable and qualified insurance carriers for board consideration; notify all parents of students who may be eligible for insurance.
