STAFF DISCIPLINE

 

Purpose

 

The Northfield Board of Education directs all staff members (teacher and support staff) to observe statutes of the State of New Jersey, rules of the State Board of Education, policies of this board, and duly promulgated administrative rules and regulations governing staff conduct. Violations of those statutes, rules, policies and regulations will be subject to discipline.

 

Delegation of Authority

 

A. The Superintendent of Schools shall prepare disciplinary rules for situations most often encountered which provide for progressive penalties, including, where appropriate, warning, suspension, withholding an increment, dismissal;

 

B. In the event it is necessary to take disciplinary action against an employee, a notice in ordinary and concise language shall be sent to the employee specifying:

 

1. The specific acts and omissions upon which the disciplinary action is based;

2. A statement of the cause for action taken;

3. A quotation of the rule or regulation which it is claimed the employee violated;

4. A statement that the employee may have a hearing if he/she so wishes.

 

C. Disciplinary rules shall be reviewed and approved by the board.
