Policy
SCHOOL ORGANIZATION
The Northfield Board of Education recognizes that the grouping of grades and services within the facilities of the district can assist the efficient operation of the district and help achieve a more effective instructional program.
Authority
A. The schools of this district shall be organized as follows:
1. Elementary School – grades K to 4;
2. Middle school – grades 5 through 8.
B. Modifications in the organizational plan of the schools may be made only by the board.
Delegation of Responsibility
The Superintendent of Schools shall continually monitor the effectiveness of the schools’ organizational plan and recommend to the board such modifications in the plan which are in the best interests of the students, make wisest use of district resources and serve the educational goals of this board.
Student Government
The board acknowledges the importance of offering students the opportunity to participate in self-government, within the establishment of the schools.
Authority
A. Students shall have the right to organize, conduct meetings, elect officers and representatives, and to petition the board;
B. The board shall appoint a qualified member of the faculty to serve as advisor to the student government activities.
